I am now taking bookings for our Fifth Senior/Young Adult Drama trip to New York for Easter 2017!
(The schedule will be something like this, although it will change a little between now and then):We will fly to New York JFK at 09.00am on Friday Morning April 7th which brings us into New York at 11.20am local time. We meet our coach for transfer to our hotel; The Vanderbilt YMCA on East 47th Street. The hotel offers hostel type accommodation with the students sharing 2 to a room. Whilst there are no en-suite facilities there is a fantastic leisure centre which features 2 swimming pools with complementary towels and excellent shower and changing facilities.
From there we will head to Pier 83 for a two-hour Circle Line cruise of Manhattan Bay and the Statue of Liberty. After our evening meal we will visit Times Square. Over the next four days we will walk The High Line, have dinner in the magnificent Grand Central Station, Top of the Rock for some of the best views of NYC, shop till you drop at the Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall Have an acting or Dance workshop with a Broadway professional at the Broadway Dance Center, Visit Times Square, the Egyptian Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum and take the Behind the Screen tour of the American Museum of the Moving Image where we can also take a workshop in Animation or sound design or film and video editing . We will also make our own radio program in the Museum of Radio and Television. These are just some of the things we will experience, we may also tour Radio City Music Hall, Ice-Skate at the Rockerfeller Plaza, visit MTV –it all depends on time and availability.
We will eat in real American Diners and Deli’s and shop in Canal Street and 5th Avenue. On and Off Broadway Shows we could see include the spectacular Something Rotton, Aladdin and School of Rock let me know what YOU would like to see! The plan is to see 3 shows over the week.
This trip may also include a workshop and audition with the Faculty of the renowned Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Boston who in previous years have offered scholarships to our students for their incredible 5 week Summer Programme!
We plan to arrive home early morning Thursday April 13th.
This 5 night 6 day trip will be the experience of a lifetime and will cost in the region of €1,600. This covers all flights, transfers, theatre tickets, full individual and group insurance, entrance fees, workshops, demonstrations, food and accommodation. Everyone will be fully supervised and very well looked after at all times and will only need personal money for souvenirs/shopping (we recommend $500). This will be for TY/5th and 6th yr ITW students at time of travel 15 yrs+.
