Our Senior Musical Theatre format is changing! With a fantastic jam packed schedule of performances and workshops for the coming year starting with a bang on September 1st!
Senior Musical Theatre has had a revamp this year, making it a more educational and fun class to take!
We will start with our main show “Magic to Do” based on the musical Pippin that will be performed in at the end of term 1. This will be a 10 week process so all hands will be on deck! Auditions will be filled with fun and laughter. You will have to sing a verse and a chorus of a musical theatre song and we will play some fun drama games with you as well. If you don’t want to perform ... don’t worry! We would love to have you working on all aspects behind the scenes with our team.
We also want our society to be an educational place so that everyone can learn about theatre as well as taking part in it. For the second term we will be running Master Classes with various people working in all areas of the industry and also taking trips to theatres. We will be visiting the Samuel Beckett Theatre in Trinity College to learn more about the technical aspects of theatre and we will also be providing talks and information about Performing Arts colleges for those who are interested in studying Performing Arts in Third Level!
For our final term we really want you to use what you have learnt, so we will be putting on a performance with extracts, songs and dances all chosen by you guys!!
If you have ever wanted to direct, choreograph, write or even just preform a character now is your chance! Mentors will be coming in to work with you on this process. These mentors will either currently be working in the business or else studying to be by the time you enter it in the future yourself!
You do have to have ITW Membership (be enrolled for at least one ITW Dance and one Drama class a week) in order to join the Society and then just book for our Senior Musical Theatre Society to become part of our fun musical family. This society is a fun family that gives you the chance to grow and make friends.
This year has been structured to ease stress on exams so please don’t rule Musical Theatre out if you're in sixth year.
The team are really excited to meet you and hope to see you for our open day on September 1st at 3pm!
