The intermediate dance class in ITW is a fun dance class that focuses on technique and performance. Students begin with a fast cardio warm up followed by a series of stretching exercises and finally strengthening of their arms, legs and core. Students rehearse technique through corner and centre work ranging from kicks to jumps to turns. Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre are some of the various styles of dance students learn.
New routines are choreographed over two or three weeks and students are expected to remember routines and demonstrate showmanship when performing in class.
The first half of the year focusses on new fun routines from musicals such as Hairspray, Newsies, Wicked and more.
In January we begin Technique of the Week which gives the class a new technique to focus on (i.e. feet positioning, posture, jumps, kicks, turns, etc.) before rehearsing for Musical Theatre Dance Exams and Performance Night in May.
This is a fun, vibrant and talented class.
