The Inter Dance class in ITW is a fun dance class that focuses on technique and performance. Students begin with a fast cardio warm up followed by a series of stretching exercises and strengthening of their arms, legs and core to facilitate strong dance technique. Students rehearse choreography through corner and centre work ranging from kicks to jumps to turns. Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Musical Theatre are some of the various styles of dance students learn.

Before Christmas students focus Technique of the Month which gives the class a new technique to focus on (i.e. feet positioning, posture, jumps, kicks, turns, etc.). Students will learn fun new routines from musicals such as Hairspray, Newsies, Wicked, and more. After Christmas students begin rehearsing for Musical Theatre Dance Exams and Performance Night.

WHY DANCE? Dance training is invaluable for children aged nine to twelve years old, as it helps to develop a host of key skills that will serve them well both in their personal lives and in future pursuits. One of the primary benefits of dance training is improved rhythm, allowing them to move to music with confidence and ease. Additionally, dance training can help to build flexibility, balance, and poise, all of which play a role in maintaining good posture and reducing the risk of injury. Furthermore, dance training can enhance coordination and musicality, helping children to become better able to move in time to beats and rhythms. Finally, dance classes offer a social environment where children can make friends, learn to work collaboratively with others, and develop a sense of discipline and focus that can serve them well both on and off the dance floor.
