Perform With ITW

ITW offers a range of performance groups that help students develop their skills and gain stage experience. These include the Young Dramatic Arts Theatre Company, the Musical Theatre Company, and the Shakespeare Company, each focusing on different aspects of acting and performance. In addition, students can join Vocal Vibes, an ensemble singing group, or the Dance Company, the studio’s competitive dance team. Together, these groups provide opportunities to perform, collaborate, and build confidence.

Musical Theatre

At ITW, students can join different Musical Theatre Companies where they spend the year rehearsing for a full musical production. Throughout the year, students rehearse songs, scenes and choreography while developing their acting, singing and dancing skills. All their hard work leads up to a final performance of the musical at the end of the year, where they get to perform the show in front of an audience.

Shakespeare Company

The ITW Shakespeare Company gives students the opportunity to explore the language, movement, and imagination of Shakespeare while working as a team to create dynamic, engaging performances. Students learn to de-mystify Shakespeare’s text, develop musicality and acting skills, and gain confidence performing on stage. Every student is fully involved, forging strong friendships and building a deep appreciation for theatre and Shakespeare’s work. Past students have also won awards at festivals such as the SDToI and Feis Maitiú and gone on to train professionally at top colleges like LIR and RADA, as well as performing in theatre, film, and television.

In recent years, the company has performed productions including The Winter’s Tale, The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Comedy of Errors. They have also performed internationally, including at Shakespeare’s Globe in London and Birmingham Old Rep, with workshops at the RSC in Stratford. The Shakespeare Company begins with a workshop at the end of August and rehearses weekly until performances in November, giving students the full experience of bringing Shakespeare to life in front of a live audience.

Vocal Vibes

Vocal Vibes is a singing club in Clonskeagh, open to students from 1st class through to 6th Year, including those from Drumcondra. The club focuses on creating a fun, energetic, and inclusive space where students can develop their vocal, dance, and performance skills while expressing themselves freely. With no auditions required, everyone is welcome to join, and sessions are designed to be enjoyable and collaborative, allowing students to contribute song ideas and shape the experience together.

Led by experienced vocal coach Andrew Dawson, Vocal Vibes offers exciting opportunities such as optional participation in choir competitions and charity events, all without pressure. The emphasis is firmly on enjoyment rather than exams or formal assessments, giving students a chance to build confidence, connect with others, and simply enjoy singing in a supportive environment.
