“my soul is in the sky” (A Midsummer Nights Dream) and so was our Shakespeare Company!
On 21st October, the Shakespeare Company headed off to London for an unforgettable Shakespeare-filled adventure. First stop: the iconic Globe Theatre! 🌍 Standing in the place where Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed was an incredible experience, and watching Twelfth Night live on that historic stage made the story’s humour and chaos feel even more magical. Even Joshua , our drama teacher, made it on stage!
Before the show the group took part in a behind the scenes tour of the theatre where they got a sneak peek of the Globe Actors in rehearsal for their Christmas Production of Pinocchio! This was followed by a brilliant acting workshop with one of the Globe Company members 🎬. Students got to explore scenes, experiment with Shakespearean language, and learn how actors bring energy and movement to the Globe’s unique stage. The workshop left everyone inspired and full of ideas for their own performance.
All of that preparation paid off during the company’s two fantastic performances of Twelfth Night. On Saturday 8th November, they delivered a fun and engaging show for the ITW Saturday students, impressing the audience with their confidence, teamwork, and genuine enjoyment of the play 🙌.
The next evening, on 9th November, the company took to the stage once again—this time performing for their families. It was a proud moment for everyone involved, and the positive reactions from the audience made all their hard work worth it 💛.
Overall, the London trip and the performances were a wonderful celebration of Shakespeare, creativity, and collaboration. From the Globe Theatre to their own stage, the Shakespeare Company truly brought Twelfth Night to life! 🌟
